Hello Imagers,

I’m writing today to share my disappointment with the masses. I just spent the last hour and a half searching for pictures of FASHION FORWARD individuals because I don’t want people thinking that all we do is talk bad about others on this site.

I checked parties in NYC, Philly and ATL. I’m not saying that I didn’t see well dressed people at some of these parties but what I am saying is I didn’t see anyone standing out. And the few that did stand out in a positive manner took the pictures in poses that took away from their FF.

What is going on my people??? I found literally hundreds of people that I could have posted as H.A.M. but since I told myself this would would be a celebration of image I’ll save those for next week!!!

I’m asking you, my faithful Image saavy readers to send (mirrorimagemag@gmail.com) in Fashion Forward pictures. Please show me that somewhere, someone is still doing more than copying the latest window dressing at American Apparel!!!

Thank you for your continued support. By the looks of the numbers Mirror Image is quickly becoming a favorite and we couldn’t do it without you! I was out and about on Halloween and was fortunate enough to overhear some women talking about how some of the costumes were H.A.M.S. and should be featured on Mirror Image Magazine!!!

You can imagine my surprise. I want to thank those ladies because they are the inspiration behind our “tricks & treats” feature. I put up a few more treats than tricks because I was actually quite impressed with the array of costumes I saw this year.

Keep checking in on us to see what other extras we have in store for you!

Dear Readers,

I am coming to you today from the top of my soap box. (Give me a minute to be lifted up) Okay, I’m settled now. We MUST, I repeat MUST, do something about this disaster that is taking over nightlife. Flip-flops in the club as shoes!!! When did it become the “IN” thing to wear to the club that which one wears to the corner store?

Now I know that flip-flops have stepped their game up over the years. I myself own over 20 pairs, in different colors, styles and materials. Really, it is kind of amazing how many different ways they can market the same shoe. I have flip-flops that I have paid $1 for and flip-flops that I have paid over $40 on. Yet I won’t be caught in the club wearing any of them. That is not to say that I have never brought a pair in my bag (or a friend’s bag when mine is too small) but that is for after I leave the club and do the drunken walk to the car not for while I’m getting my drink and my two step on inside of the club.

I went out to a few spots last night and was very disappointed in what women were considering appropriate footwear. I’ll give it that flats are very trendy this summer but there is a difference between flats & flip-flops. And even still I believe flats are great for shopping, lunching, bbqing and hanging out during the day but once night falls it is time to make a change.

Footwear can make or break an outfit. And last night I saw waaaaaaaay too many outfits that were borderline end up broken. I know that my whole disposition changes when I throw on a sexy pair of stilettoes. Does that not happen for all my stylish sisters? Gentlemen, doesn’t a fly pair of heels grab your attention?

I’m asking you to join me in the ANTI FLIP FLOP MOVEMENT. Ladies, pledge to step your shoe game up when you go out at night. Gentlemen, pledge not to give these flip-flop femmes any added attention. Let’s bring back the IMAGE we want to nightlife. Let’s bring back the days of taking hours to get ready and really looking like we care when we go out.

Please bring your “A” game or stay home. Oh, and fellas, don’t think you’re off of the hook. Leave the white tees as undershirts and stop thinking they’re a fashion statement. Do you even know why that trend started?

Dear Readers,

As your editor I would like to apologize for the lack of updates in the past week. What can I say, we at Mirror Image Magazine have been partying like its our birthday…because well, it was my birthday!

That’s no excuse though. We owe you BIG…and that’s just what we plan to do, bring you BIG things. Don’t think for a minute that we weren’t out looking for the best (and the worst) to bring you. And we’ve found it.

We’re a few days late and a few dollars short (blame that on the shopping spree we went on in South Beach…for research purposes only, of course!), but we’re going to bring you many opportunities to free your mind and image for this Independence Day. We’re looking to bring you an after the fact review of the BET awards (we know you saw our girl A. Keys and her SPANX!!!), super sales that will help you find those purrfect BBQ outfits for the weekend as well as just the thing to wear to the 4th Annual Polo Shirt and Tennis Skirt Party @ LQ (who but Showcase Ent & Empire Ent. can get us to wear a tennis skirt off the court???), we’re also bringing you the opportunity to put us on blast…yup, i said it…look for the picture of Mirror Image staff and supporters. You tell us what we did right and what we did wrong.

We know we got you open…but you’re just our close friend unless of course you think you have what it takes to be a Mirror Image Style Critic. We’re currently looking to expand our team so if you think you can hang with the big girls then send us a sample of your work at submissions@mirrorimagemag.com

With much fanfare preceding its release, Sex and the City, the movie has finally hit theaters. Women, and some fashion loving men, lined the streets to see the final chapters of Carrie, Miranda, Charlotte, and Samantha. But did the movie live up to the hype? Would the fashion, the 6th lady (New York being the 5th lady) outshine the story line? Could the 30 minute television show still retain its zsa zsa zsu on the big screen?

It has been 4 years since the last episode aired on HBO and the film starts off re-introducing the cast

Carrie Bradshaw, played by Sarah Jessica Parker now 40 years old, is still writing and dating John James Preston, played by Chris Noth, previously known as Big. Charlotte York Goldenblatt, played by Kristen Davis is still happily married to her divorce lawyer husband Harry Goldenblatt, played by Evan Handler. We are introduced to their now 4 year old adopted daughter Lily. Miranda Hobbes, played by Cynthia Nixon is still married and living in Brooklyn with Steve Brady and their son Brady. Samantha Jones, played by Kim Catrall has moved to California to manage Smith Jared, her much younger boyfriend’s, career.

Despite the very perfect picture being put forth in the beginning, there are many layered issues. Carrie and Big live together and decide to get married. It’s Carrie’s first marriage and Big’s 3rd. Steve reveals to Miranda that he has cheated on her. Samantha is not so comfortable being in a relationship. Charlotte’s character is the only one that doesn’t have any surface issues.

There is so much to like about this movie. The fashion, the 6th lady, does not disappoint. Carrie is still a card carrying shoe junkie. She also pushes the fashion envelope once again with her over sized flower dresses and Chanel purses. Watching the ladies strut around New York City in these bedazzled, eye catching outfits makes this film cinema candy for the fashion addicted fans who loved the show. The introduction of Carrie’s assistant, Louise, played by Jennifer Hudson, is a nice addition to cast that has had almost no new additions. Unfortunately, the trademark witty banter is lacking from the movie. There are a lot of tear jerker moments that may be foreign to the Sex and the City fans. Even with its very few shortcomings, this film neatly wraps up the lives of these very fabulous women with plot twists and turns that keep the viewers’ interest with breath abated.
